Frequently Asked Questions

Is a comprehensive evaluation required before starting therapy?

No. We also accept testing completed by the school district or another facility. Feel free to send us a previous evaluation and we can get started with therapy right away. Informal evaluations during a treatment session are also an option.

What is the difference between a comprehensive assessment and an informal evaluation?

A comprehensive assessment uses standardized tests to determine the client's abilities, whereas, an informal evaluation uses the therapist's clinical judgment during speaking, reading and/or play tasks. Standardized testing may be required by the school district or other providers but is not necessary to participate in therapy at Talk and Taste Therapy. If you choose to do an informal evaluation rather than a comprehensive assessment we will likely use 60 minutes which can be completed in 1 or 2 sessions and billed at the same rate as regular treatment sessions.
